Change Needs to Happen
NOW.
What would this bill do?
This bill would provide an incentive for States to extend child welfare support and services for youth through 21 years of age, and to allow youth to re-enter foster care after attaining 18 years of age, both without regard to the AFDC eligibility of their parents or legal guardians, and for other purposes.
Why is this bill important to youth?
Since 1998, more than 500,000 foster children have aged out of the system and have been left homeless. With a system that is pushing them out into a world that they are too young and too unprepared for, its clear that we must do something.
This bill would change this problem and give these foster children three more years to figure out their life and be able to fend for themselves.
Make this change happen.
Save lives.
